Petr Fulín's weekend in Oschersleben: joy, experience and great result
16.04.2018
Opening weekend of TCR Germany season offered two balanced races of thirty cars, CUPRA TCR with Petr Fulín behing the wheel included. Czech racing driver, starting in numerous field, gained seventh and second place.
"I am overjoyed, weekend was great and I must highlight the work of all team members and our partners and fans as well, without whom we couldn't achieve this great result," expressed Petr Fulín his feelings right after races. He put two weekends in this series into his programme for 2018. In Friday qualifying session, Fulda moved into second part from the top spot, but he didn't want to risk and in the end, he had to start from sixth row into the first race. "I might be upset about two mistakes afterwards – staying on wet tires in the second part of qualifying and having maybe too cautious setup for the race one –, but it's easy to be wise after the event, so I'm glad we could achieve good result," Fulda sums up seventh place on Saturday.
Thanks to this progress, Czech driver started in Sunday race from the first row and in which he could utilize some experience: "On Friday and Saturday, it was necessary to risk, on Sunday we knew how the weather will be, so we took data from our March testing and car performed great." Given pace of the race, it was hard to keep brakes in the same shape from start to finish, so in the last lap Fulda lost his first place, which he held from the mid-race. "I didn't want to risk contact, we came to Oschersleben to gain experience, whole team performed great, so I'm really satisfied. Atmosphere was massive, I went to watch other races on my own. It was interesting to experience new championship, director of the race included, and it was interesting to taste podium with young drivers, who focus on racing since their childhood," rates Petr Fulín his experience from the first race weekend of the season. The second one takes place on Autodrom Most in two weeks and in the numerous field, Fulda will try to hold the primacy between (not only) CUPRA cars on his home track.
