Petr Fulín's competition with world's elite drivers will take place on Slovakiaring
12.06.2018
Season plan of Petr Fulín for 2018 included mid-May participation in world cup WTCR, which follows the former world championship WTCC. When he didn’t obtain wild card, it seemed that Czech driver’s dream of competing with world’s elite drivers will have to be postponed, however the change in series’ calendar brought joyful news: "Fulda" will race in WTCR this year, on Slovakiaring!
News is linked to addition of Slovakian track into the championship after withdrawal of Argentinian Termas de Rio Hondo. Just as in 2014, Petr Fulín will compete in world’s top tier series – contrary to his schedule – in Slovakia. Four years ago, he took part in substitute weekend in his sole WTCC appearance and in TC2 category he managed to win the only race (the other one was cancelled because of heavy rain). This time, there will be no different categories and with CUPRA Leon TCR, Fulda has the opportunity to compete with all drivers in the prestigious field.
"I don’t take this as a weekend we enter to fight for trophies. Handicap BoP is not – compared to other cars – very generous to us and we have to cope with twenty kilogram ballast for wild card entries as well. On the other hand, when I look into starting list, I am extremely happy. There is a chance for us ahead, to compete with icons and veterans of the WTCC, who can retire from their careers which would deny me the chance to meet them on the track. Thus, our plan is to enjoy every session of the weekend and I can’t wait for it!" comments Petr Fulín his plans for the weekend on Slovakiaring.
European part of the WCTR season will terminate in Slovakia, first race is scheduled on fourteenth of July, races two and three will follow day after.
