Title hopes still alive, but...

21.05.2012

Petr Fulin departs from the third round of the season with points for second place in the S2000 category and from the third place he can fight for the ETCC title in the last racing weekend at Imola.

Last fall at a press conference Petr talk primarily about learning to handle new car and looking around in a new championship. But now, after three rounds, in Petr and the whole team happiness from great results shades in a sense of futility over the unjust technical regulations.

PETR FULIN

"Already when diesels ran in the WTCC, the FIA really did not know what to do with them and could not ensure the balance between cars with petrol engines and diesels. Instead to learn from it with making the ETCC rules, it's even worse. Technical regulations distinguish only front and rear wheel drive cars, nothing else. In effect, our BMW is in the worst configuration in which it can be. We have a gasoline engine, rear wheel drive and five-speed transmission with H pattern. Whether you have a classic or sequential gearbox regule ETCC disregarded in the WTCC there was a difference 30 kg. Paradoxically, the diesel SEAT only sequential transmission with front-wheel drive lighter than our BMW. It makes me a little sad. The team is doing a great job preparing the car on absolutely professional level, everybody gives the maximum and in essence there is no reason not to be satisfied with the results. We are doing the maximum possible, and I thanks a lot to the team and partners! However, if Fernando Monje will have no problems at Imola or the technical regulation will not change for the last race - and there are pressure not only from our side to make it happen - we have no real chance for the title fight on track."
