25.06.2012

Petr Fulin miss a mere one point to sedecond place in the final 2012 ETCC ranking. Chances for the title already gone before the race weekend and were more or less theoretical issues, while Fernando Monje, SEAT Leon TDI was thanks to technical regulations unbeatable for Czech driver.

Bad luck began to stick on the BMW 320si wheels in the qualifying. A faulty alternator caused the powersteering did not work, but also the fuel pump did not make enough pressure. Petr then stood up to sixth place. Switzerland Peter Rikli, direct rival in the battle for second place, was right infront of him. Even in the lap 1 Peter overtook him and grab second place in the S2000 category. In race 2 Peter Rikli collided with his teammate Christian Fischer shortly after the start and Petr needed only to bring the car to the finish. However, the car was against it. Smoke apperaed under the BMW 320si bonnet in the lap 5 and Petr was forced to retire from the race. This moment was so bitter that Petr was leading at the moment. Petr Fulin missed the second place in final standings by a single point.

PETR FULÍN

„I must say that I am not sorry about unsuccessful attack for the second place. Of course, at the moment when the car stopped, foiled weekend at Monza or the penalty at Slovakiaring ran in my head. If there Commissioners received the necessary paperwork on time, I would got a point from qualifying and everything seemed different now. I appreciate that as we presented in the championship, the times we managed to drive in comparison with WTCC etc. From this perspective, I'm satisfied with the season and I think that we should not be ashamed of. Big thanks to both partners, for which we are able to compete in the 2012 ETCC, but also the mechanics and the whole team, whom during the season played more together and in the end worked very well. We have proved that the we have a performance for WTCC, we'll see how we resolved the question of finance in the end and if next year we could move up."
